Guiding Values

In both surgery and aviation, there is very little margin for error. That reality has shaped how I think about my work, my responsibilities, and the kind of professional I strive to be.

At the core of everything I do is a commitment to precision—not just technical precision in the operating room, but precision in judgment, planning, and communication. Whether reconstructing a complex defect, evaluating a patient for surgery, or performing an FAA medical exam, the details matter. Outcomes are determined long before the first incision or the moment of takeoff.

I also believe deeply in accountability and defensibility. Every clinical decision, every recommendation, and every action should be grounded in sound reasoning and stand up to scrutiny. That mindset protects patients, builds trust, and ensures that we are practicing at the highest standard of our profession.

Running a private practice has reinforced the importance of ownership and stewardship. I view my practice not simply as a business, but as a system of care—one that requires disciplined operations, ethical marketing, responsible resource allocation, and a consistent patient experience from first contact through long-term follow-up.

Beyond the clinic and the cockpit, my most important role is being a father and mentor. Coaching youth baseball has reminded me that discipline, preparation, and consistency matter just as much as talent. The same principles apply in medicine, in business, and in life.

Finally, I am motivated by long-term thinking—building something durable, whether that is a surgical practice, an aviation partnership, or a family legacy. Short-term wins are easy; sustained excellence requires structure, systems, and values that do not change under pressure.

In every arena I operate in—medicine, aviation, business, or family—the standard is the same: do the work thoroughly, do it responsibly, and do it in a way that earns trust over time.
